How it works
Every step, start to finish
No theater, no surprises. Here's everything that happens, from the form to your renewal.
Getting your quote
Steps 1 to 3. A few minutes of your time; we do the rest.
-
Step 01
Send the form and a recent bill
Fill out the quote form and upload your latest electric bill (a PDF or a clear photo of the pages with usage on them). Add your ESI ID or utility account number and pick the times that work for a call.
Submitting the form also gives us your authorization to look up your usage with your utility. That's the Letter of Authorization (LOA), signed by typing your name. It's not a contract and it doesn't change your supplier, your rate or your service. You can read it first in the authorization terms and download your copy right after you submit.
-
Step 02
We pull your usage and price it
We request your usage history from your utility, typically the last 12 months of kWh and demand, and compare rates from multiple suppliers. In Texas we work under Choice Power's broker registration, which is how we look up your usage and quote across suppliers.
Your number is priced on your actual usage history. Your numbers, not a guess.
-
Step 03
We call you with your quote
At the time you picked on the form, usually by the next business day, we call you with your personalized quote and email it to you during the call, so you have the numbers in front of you.
Quotes are good for 24 hours because electricity prices move daily. If yours lapses, we'll gladly re-price it.
If you say yes
Steps 4 to 8. Only if you decide to sign.
-
Step 04
Sign only if you like it
A quote is information, not a commitment. If you like it, you sign the contract electronically. We walk you through the terms before you do, including any early termination fee.
No pressure, and no obligation until you sign.
-
Step 05
A quick welcome call
After you sign, you may get a short welcome call to confirm your enrollment details.
-
Step 06
Your switch, with no outage
The switch usually happens on your next meter read date. Switching is paperwork: same wires, same meter, same poles. Your lights stay on the whole time and nothing gets installed.
Your utility (delivery company) still delivers your power, reads your meter and handles outages, no matter which supplier you buy from.
-
Step 07
Your bill keeps coming
You keep getting an electric bill, same as now. In Texas your supplier usually bills you for everything, including your utility's delivery charges, grid fees and taxes. In most other states your utility keeps sending the bill, with the supplier's charges listed on it.
Either way, you pay them, not us. There's no separate bill from Feral Watt.
-
Step 08
We re-shop before it ends
Before your contract ends, we reach out to re-shop your rate, so you don't roll onto a pricey month-to-month rate without noticing.
